Description
East Side High and Manual Training School, Waterloo, Iowa.
The is a view of the second East High School Building, which functioned as a high school between 1897-1918. After the third East High was built in 1918-1919, the second East High (along with the Manual Training School) became East Junior High. East Junior High was closed in March 1953, and the older part of the building was torn down that summer. The city briefly used the ground as a parking lot. Eventually, the Manual Training School was also torn down when the city decided to build its new City Hall on the block.
